Introducing Charlotte Mountford

Charlotte Mountford

We’re delighted to announce that Charlotte Mountford will be working with us in 2014 as BBC Performing Arts Fund Theatre Fellow: Producer after we were awarded one of 19 national awards to support the development of the next generation of theatre talent.

Charlotte is a talented early career producer who has previously worked with Box Of Tricks Theatre Company, 24:7 Theatre Festival, Burnley Youth Theatre and Action Transport Theatre Company. She will now work with The Lowry over a nine-month period to develop skills that will support her in her career as a producer and promoter of new and emerging work. During this time she will be tasked with seeking out and building relationships with theatre makers based within Salford, leading to the creation of a two-day festival of homegrown work in The Lowry Studio.

Benefitting from phone voting on The Voice and incidental revenue accumulated through telephone voting lines on BBC entertainment programmes like Strictly Come Dancing, BBC Performing Arts Fund (PAF) recipients include writers, directors and theatre groups alongside producers.

This partnership continues The Lowry’s work to develop early and mid career artists through The Lowry Studio’s Developed With The Lowry, Associate Artists and our Resident Dance Company schemes. The BBC PAF Theatre Fellowship is a significant award for us, allowing us to offer an early career practitioner our longest and most in depth training experience to date. Together we hope to reach out to theatre makers working in Salford and bring them into The Lowry, creating opportunities and platforms to celebrate the talent and the vibrant theatre scene in this city.

We hope to help Charlotte develop the skills she will need to start building a long term career as a producer, but we see this as an opportunity to learn from her too about how best to support artist development in the future. We can’t wait to get started!
