Lord of The Flies success inspires new dance course for local boys

Lord of the Flies Audition

This month the Lowry celebrated the opening of Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies tour with an outstanding series of performances featuring 24 talented young men from the North West.

The boys performed six shows alongside professional dancers from Matthew Bourne’s company receiving 5* reviews which reflected their incredible hard work and commitment to the project.

The Lord of The Flies tour is visiting 13 different cities across the UK before crossing the sea to Australia. Each venue will work with a different group of young men to recreate the production, led by New Adventures’ tour directors Alan Vincent and Adam Galbraith.

So, what other opportunities are available to the cast of the North West production now the show has moved to the next venue?

This summer, The Lowry introduces a ten-week boys’ dance course – every Friday evening from 9th May. Commotions Boys Summer Course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of contemporary dance in a fun and inspiring way and is for boys with lots of energy, who enjoy sports and are brave enough to give something new a try.

Following our summer course, The Lowry is set to establish a brand new Commotions Boys dance company, which will begin in September. The Lord of The Flies cast will have the opportunity to audition for a place in the company alongside young male dancers aged 11-25 from Salford and across the North West on Sun 22 June.
