We are about to embark on the third and final year of DanceQuest at The Lowry.
DanceQuest is a national project designed by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts to introduce young people to dance.
Over three years, between 2012 and 2015, the project has provided many young people across the UK with opportunities to dance, choreograph, design and perform their own work in front of their peers. DanceQuest aims to develop teamwork and friendships amongst young people in their first year of secondary school and beyond.
Louise Dennison, project manager: “This project will link The Birmingham Hippodrome, The Lowry in Salford, Festival City Theatres Trust in Edinburgh and Sadler’s Wells in London with four schools in each area, introducing 800 11-13 year olds to Dance in a wide range of forms.”
Over the last two years we have worked with schools across Salford and Greater Manchester. Now, in our final year, we are excited to be working with St Patrick’s High School, Chorlton High School, Trinity High School and Stretford High School.
The schools began this year by coming to The Lowry to see Phoenix Dance Theatre, and then the groups will take part in dance workshops at their schools, leading up to a sharing day on the Quays Theatre stage here at The Lowry.
