Russell-ing up a top evening
A very special on-off event this week when comedian, writer and campaigner Russell Brand hosted a very special reading in the Compass Room on Tuesday.
Brand, who’s recently been in the media following the release of his latest book Revolution, was instead reading from another new work; the first of his Trickster Tales series of children’s fables, The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
A room crammed with Brand superfans, parents and most importantly young children, were treated to 30 minutes of a reading followed by a Q&A for, specifically, anyone aged under 12.
Questions fired in from all sides, including such gems as “Do you like the Beastie Boys?” and “How old are you? Because I think you look about 72…”
To his great credit Brand took is all in his stride, as you’d expect from someone who made his name performing stand-up comedy.
At the end of the question and answer session the author then took it upon himself to sign every single copy of the free Trickster Tales hardbacks that had ben distributed beforehand.
An event enjoyed by all – for more on-off events such as these keep an eye on the Calendar section of the website. Just choose a date then click to see what’s on!
