Next Saturday (15th November), the doors will open on one the most ambitious and challenging exhibitions that The Lowry has produced in its 14-year history.

One Side to the Other has been specially curated by international choreographer Akram Khan, one of the UK’s most distinguished directors, and this eagerly anticipated exhibition is a testament to his artistic vision.

Khan explores oppositions by bringing together a number of art-works that have inspired his artistic practice. Works by prominent artists such as Anthony Gormley (the creator of The Angel of the North) and Anish Kapoor will stand alongside international works of photography, film and sculpture; all brought together to create a truly unique audience experience.

The exhibition experience will include a series of live performances featuring dancers, actors and aerialists. This is an ambitious and ground breaking exhibition, all the more exciting as it includes performances from members of The Lowry Young Actors Company and the Centre for advanced Training in Dance (CAT).

For the four young performers who successfully auditioned for the role, this opportunity will provide them with a fantastic experience. Working alongside professional performers and artistic directors, and overseen by Khan himself; they will be introduced to the working practices of one of the most influential and visionary creators of theatre and performance that this country has been witness to.

The exhibition will run until Saturday 1st February 2014, with the performances taking place on every Saturday, (apart from Saturday 27th December 2014). Tickets are free, but as the performances only allow for a small audience contingency, they must be booked by visiting the Lowry’s box office or online at www.thelowry.com

The Lowry, with the direction of Khan, has produced an exhibition that challenges the very capability of the gallery space. Book now before tickets are all taken.
