This year the Education team at The Lowry has teamed up with North West Drama Services and the Children’s Shakespeare Festival. The festival will see some 2500 children from across Salford and the North West performing on the stages of the The Lowry, Royal Exchange Theatre, Liverpool Everyman, Oldham Coliseum and New Vic Theatre.
The inter-school festival will use educational drama as a tool for deep and active learning, combining classroom activity with performances by children in one of The Lowry’s professional theatre spaces.
In 2015 the festival will present it’s most exciting scheme of work to date, based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummers Night’s Dream, originally written by John Doona. The play features brand new material, and has an expert team of festival directors and associate directors with a wealth of experience to guide it along.
