The Lowry will host Connections 500 in 2016 and is inviting applications from local theatre youth groups to get involved.
After the success of National Theatre Connections 2015, The Lowry will be a venue for the annual festival in 2016. To celebrate 21 years of the festival, ‘Connections 500’ will be bigger and better than ever before.
Connections 500 will offer the young people of Salford and Greater Manchester the chance to get involved with a theatre project on a national scale. Offering young people the chance to perform on one of The Lowry’s stages, the festival will increase the number of youth groups and companies it works with, and use some of the best writing of the last 21 years.
Abbie Willcox Youth Arts Manager at The Lowry said, “Connections 500 addresses a gap in youth theatre, where the plays are written and workshopped with young people in mind. This is a great opportunity for young people in Salford to get involved with some of the best people in the theatre business. ”
Connections 500 is open to any company of young people aged 13-19. Whether you’re a school; youth theatre; voluntary organisation; are experienced; or have never staged a production before, your group can apply to be part of Connections.
Applications for next years festival close on Wed 8 July 2015. The Lowry is a partner company for the festival, for more information visit www.nationaltheatre.org.uk or call 020 7452 3000.
