The Lowry is looking for budding young actors from Salford to perform in the National Theatre’s Connections 500 Festival.
Each year the National Theatre’s Connections festival offers a unique opportunity for young people to stage plays specially written by some of the UK’s most exciting playwrights, and to perform them in leading theatres around the country – along with the chance of performing at the National Theatre itself.
Any group of young people aged between 13-19 years old, and based in Salford, can apply to perform. Applications are open to all secondary schools, colleges, youth theatres and voluntary organisations, ranging from experienced young companies to groups who have never staged a production before – any group can apply to take part.
The National Theatre Connections festival provides a wide variety of learning opportunities for young people – not just as performers, but in every aspect of staging a production. Young people can take on a variety of backstage roles, including operating lights and sound, undertaking stage management responsibilities or marketing their production.
Application deadline is Tue 1 September 2015
If you are a Salford resident and interested in applying please contact Abbie Willcox Youth Arts Manager, The Lowry, T: 0161 876 2019, E: firstname.lastname@example.org
