Bearded Fellows are working with The Lowry at New Park High School to deliver video, animation and photography sessions as part of The Lowry’s annual focused project.
Bearded Fellows are a Salford based digital media company who have been using their wide ranging skills to engage pupils from New Park High School. New Park High School is a specialist education provider for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. The pupils have been involved in exciting new art forms they have never tried before. And arts activities like these help the pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
With patience and support from two of The Bearded Fellows, Joe Gosling and Samson Owolabi, the confidence of the young people has grown immensely. They have created personal video stories and learned about film making, both in-front of and from behind the camera. The pupil’s films will be shared at a celebration event at The Lowry in September.
Joe and Samson from The Bearded Fellows said; “Our time working at New Park allowed the young people to learn to express themselves creatively through avenues they were not exposed to under the national curriculum. Teaming up with the Lowry has allowed a normally overlooked group of children to flourish and find the confidence to express themselves.”
