The Lowry is launching a community choir called The Chorus on Thu 10 Sept which will be led by Clare Morel from the Halle Choir.
Calling all you singers out there! Do you enjoy singing and meeting new people? Join The Chorus at The Lowry!
The Chorus will meet weekly from Thu 10 Sept to explore a mixed repertoire led by Clare Morel.
Clare Morel said; “I am so excited to be involved with the project as there is so much enthusiasm from the team to get this up and running. I have been to the Lowry many times as an audience member so it will be great fun to now work here. I enjoy working with choirs greatly and I eagerly anticipate the new challenge.”
You don’t need to have sung in a choir before or be able to read music and there are no auditions. The emphasis is very much on having fun and there will be (optional) opportunities for performances later in the year.
Clare Morel graduated from Salford University in 1996 with BA HONS Music, majoring in singing. After leaving college she joined the Halle choir and began to teach and perform in and around the North West. Since then she has moved on to successfully run her own choirs for many years, who’s busy programme include performing at the Manchester Jazz Festival and various concert venues and festivals in the North West.
The chorus will meet every Thursday from 10 September – 17 December at 7pm – 8:30pm and Salford Residents are eligible for a discounted rate. For ages 16+
